Call for papers

The Faculty of Arts of Palacky University, Olomouc and the Department of Applied Economics would like to invite you to the 14th anniversary of the international scientific conference Knowledge for Market Use 2018 subheaded Public Finances in the Background of Sustainable Development that shall be held in Olomouc September 6-7, 2018.

Public budgets, together with the future of the euro area and the EU's competitiveness, belong to the main thematic areas that are currently under discussion within the Europe. The financial crisis, which began 10 years ago, has caught most of the EU Member States in a state of increasing public indebtedness. The financial crisis has only worsened and deepened this situation. Many European countries, especially the countries of the south wing of the EU, has undergone a regime of managed bankruptcy and has been saved only due to the guarantee of rescue mechanisms, as well as the actions of the European Central Bank. The economic recovery in recent years has somewhat overshadowed this situation, but we still cannot talk about the long-term sustainability of public finances and the drop in pressure on public budgets. In this context, the future development of European economies and the concept of their long-term sustainability and competitiveness are very problematic. It is not only a purely economic and budgetary issue, but also includes social, human resources, scientific research, international politics and many others.

We therefore invite all researchers and practitioners dealing with these issues, as well as all the experts from various fields of science interested in economical topics to participate in this event and thereby to join the discussion.

The conference takes place under the auspices of Prof. PhDr. Zdeněk Pechal, CSc., Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and it is intended for the members of academic staff, university students and other experts as well as businesspeople.

The conference program is divided into the following sections:
